ABS & ARMS: Strengthen and tone the arms, chest, back, shoulders and abs with a variety of exercises and techniques. Free weights, bars, bands, machines, TRX straps, as well as your own body weight could be used during this class. Excellent option for those who feel their upper body is weak, have poor posture, or low back pain.
LOWER BODY: Strengthen and tone your legs (quads, hamstrings, inner and outer thigh, and calves) in this class. Free weights, bars, bands, machines, TRX straps, as well as your own body weight could be used during this class. Excellent option for those who sit alot at work or home.
PILATES: Focuses on the core (abs and low back) with controlled mat exercises and breathing. You are sitting or lying on the mat for the entire class, so there is no impact. Excellent option for everyone.
YOGA: Focuses on strength and flexibility by using your own body weight. We can never stretch enough, especially those who lift heavy weights, do excessive cardio, or put a lot of impact on their body.
ZUMBA: Cardio class through dance. Burn calories and have fun doing it. Coordination is not required!
TREAD & SHED: A circuit class incorporating the treadmill and weights. Meet by the treadmills and the instructor will guide you through a fast-paced workout. The strength-training exercises change each week. You do not have to be a runner to join the class – speed options are given based on your ability. Excellent for those wanting to lose fat, but not muscle.
CIRCUIT: You will rotate between medium-high impact cardio drills and exercises and strength training exercises every 1-3 minutes in this cardio class. Excellent option for those wanting to lose weight and tone, as well as those wanting to jumpstart their day.
TRX: This low-impact but high intensity class truly is for every level and ability. It is an all-over body workout, engaging the core in every exercise. Slight modifications can be made so that the beginner can work right alongside the olympian. (The class is limited to 7 participants on a first-come basis.)
KICKBOXING: A medium-high impact cardio class involving the entire body. Combos are easy to follow, so coordination is not necessary. The bags are used at times, so if you have your own gloves, bring them. However, gloves are not required!

My philosophy is a strategic training formula will help clients reach a level of fitness they can maintain for a life time. A professional Personal Trainer must have the ability to analyze each client’s individual situation and harmonize their training to match their lifestyle and goals. The attempt to build the perfect training “blueprint” or “template” to use on everyone who walks through the door is exactly what many of us have come to know as “cookie cutter programming”. Unless you are providing this type of service for free it is certainly not what a Personal Training client expects or deserves to get when paying for our services. Furthermore, buying into or subscribing exclusively to a given philosophy often limits a trainer’s ability to exercise their own better judgment. One of the more recent fads in the industry has been the huge movement toward “functional” training.
CHERRI BELEW, TRAINER
Cherri considered herself the average person in her early thirties: married, stay-at-home mom of two sons, and overweight. However, when her youngest son turned one and she had a fear of gaining even more weight, she began to exercise for the first time in her life… and fell in love with it! After taking aerobics classes for six months, she became certified to teach. Just under two years later, she had lost over 60 pounds. With so many women wanting to know “how she did it”, she then became a certified personal trainer through ISSA, in an effort to help them, too.
Over the past 14 years, she has worked as a group fitness instructor for churches, schools, community centers, business headquarters, LA Fitness, Gold’s Gym, World Gym of Smyrna, Aspire Women’s Fitness, as well as doing bootcamps at her home and parks. She also was a personal trainer for LAFitness and Aspire, but served a large majority of clients in-home.
Her group fitness classes have included floor aerobics (the ORIGINAL aerobics), step, kickboxing, spin, trekking, jump rope, circuit, toning, abs, Pilates, as well as TRX. While at the same time, she has trained elementary age children through seniors in their seventies, for purposes of coordination, strength, form, weight loss, and rehabilitation. She loves her job, especially when working with those who have a true desire to be healthy and happy.
